Dreadlights

about

This track was written entirely on my iPad as an entry for Sunrise 2011.

It's entirely made of hangovers. I tried to make an entry for the competition one night, the week before and just got drunk and wrote NOTHING.

So, the next day, with perilously few days left before the event, I played with a few arpeggios and ideas in bed with a glass of wine a hangover and a barrel of self-hatred.

Some good loops developed, life was not so bad.

I then took the iPad to Sunrise 2011. And got drunk beyond the DREAMS of mortals. Then, just like last year, realised I had to finish the damned track.

OH MY FUCKING GOD, I WAS SO HUNGOVER WHEN I FINISHED THIS TRACK.

But finish it, I did. It was a labour of HORROR.

That said, I really love the heck out of it. It's punchy and lofi and a mix of gorgeous subtractive textures and VILE bitcrushing of the drums.

We didn't win any awards on the day, but this track is made of so much strife and passion, it's such a quirky, punchy little beast, I adore it.

And it stands up on the stereo. Play it LOUD. This is crunchy bass-music made by the twisted, FOR the twisted.

Enjoy it, like I enjoyed making it :)
